Additional benefits and programs

Based on your patients’ plans with us, they may qualify for additional benefits and programs:

Oral Health, Total Health

Members with diabetes and members who are pregnant in their third trimester can get extra dental care through Oral Health, Total Health. As you probably know, diabetes increases the risk of cavities, gum disease, tooth loss, dry mouth and infection. And, pregnant women who have periodontal disease are more likely to have premature and underweight babies.

Pregnant women and patients with diabetes can enroll in the Oral Health, Total Health program by calling Delta Dental Customer Service at 888-217-2365 or by filling out the enrollment form included with the following Oral Health, Total Health flyer.

Enhanced benefits for patients with special healthcare needs

The World Health Organization reports that 10% of the world’s population has a disability. Yet, two-thirds of these individuals can’t easily get the dental care they need — despite having higher risks of oral health issues. We’re working to change that.

Starting Jan. 1, 2024, Delta Dental of Oregon and Alaska offers qualifying members with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD) extra dental benefits that make it easier to get the care they need and have a positive experience at the dentist.

Any fully insured adult or child member can access these extra benefits throughout the plan year. Other groups may offer this program as part of their benefit package. Please check Benefit Tracker for eligibility. This program is part of our commitment to improve the patient experience and make dental care more accessible to patients with IDD.
